New work from the felt tip phenom Fernando Brizio. This time, the Portuguese designer incorporates bleeding pens into clothing, allowing users to create their own unique pattern.

Flocks by Christien Meindertsma

Dutch designer Christien Meindertsma's Flocks project brings new meaning to the phrase product awareness. Every mitten, scarf and sweater created comes from a single source of wool/fur. The animal's breed, age, location and photo are included with every hand knit item.

Cecile Belmont

Sometimes I get very reluctant about posting certain items on designklub because I feel like part of their charm is the discovery of such a wonderfully crafted thing. Cecile Belmont is one such designer whose clothing, textiles and art falls into this category. Her imagery is crisp, refreshing...and was recently shared here so I don't have to feel bad about spreading the word.

News Knitter

News Knitter was created by Turkish students Mahir M. Yavuz and Ebru Kurbak who were looking for a way to visualize the massive amounts of data thrown at us everyday. The two used flat knitting machines to create clothing from live feeds of political news. Some garments were made with direct text (a snippet of the day's headlines), while others were the result of translating the feeds into visual patterns. Given the immediate link between the feeds and the knitting machine, each sweater serves as evidence of a particular moment in time.

My Town in My Home

'My Town in My Home' is a collaborative knitwear project between by Japanese fashion designer Yoshikazu Yamagata and knitting master, Mafuyu. Their amazing collection of homes turned clothes was on display at the Arnehem Mode Biennale 2007 (Holland) this past June.

Ohio Knitting Mills

I'm already on the look out for shops to visit when I head to NY next month and right now Ohio Knitting Mills in Brooklyn ranks pretty high on my list. The shop carries sweaters which were made at the Cleveland, OH factory from 1947-1974. Luckily for us, the company saved samples from each line they produced, offering us a wonderful (but limited) supply of of these wild patterned beauties. (Via Designer's Library)

Supayana

The tough part about having a blog is that you have to reveal all your secrets - but sometimes these things are for the best. Such is the case with Supayana, a clothing line created by Brooklyn-based designer Yana Gorbulsky. Yana makes an amazing line of unique, handmade tops that have fanciful features ranging from ruffles to bows. But don't mistake these shirts for being all sugar and no spice - Yana's tops are sassy and made for the girl who wants to set herself apart from the crowd. Her online shop is updated regularly and her goods are also posted weekly on eBay.

Now here's the trick: you have to be fast. FAST! I recently snatched up the cutest navy blue number, (after many months of being a click too late), and I have to say it is worth the wait. Yana puts a lot of craftmanship into her work and her pieces are all limited edition (usually 2-4 made for each design). Now go sign up for her email list and get your mouse finger ready!

Bonnie Heart Clyde

Hmm...lots of stitching-related posts lately. Oh well...I first heard about Bonnie Heart Clyde through a friend whose sister did an internship with the Portland-based designers. Bonnie Heart Clyde uses freehand embroidery to create clothing for both men and women. Recently they also added these pretty embroidered slippers to the mix. Their collection is available online at Etsy.

Safety First

Rebecca Turbow's 'Safe Clothes' are what design should be about. Turbow came up with the concept for her mod, space-age clothing line while still in school and has followed her fancy with a passion ever since. She designs clothes that will protect the wearer both physically and emotionally from the outside world with circles covering vital organs and the use of durable, extra soft fabrics.

Her early focus on turquoise and white has evolved to include more muted tones in the Fall 2006 collection (along with the addition of some great coats), but the rules of safety and strong geometric forms have remained the same. Here's hoping the future will bring more from our Great Protector - I for one would like a Safe Sofa and maybe a necklace or two.

Shop Stop

Bittersweet Genevieve is a Vancouver based artist and designer who makes amazing handmade hoodies, bags and so much more. She just re-stocked her shop after a long hiatus, so get there quick because her stuff sells out fast! I can't believe I stumbled across the new items before she sent out her mass email announcement. Finally, my obsessive bookmarking has paid off.

Wanting Juana

It's tough selecting your very first post, but I didn't need to think long before deciding on the amazing Juana de Arco. This Buenos Aires-based fashion label has a boutique in the city's trendy Palermo district. On a recent vacation I was lucky enough to stumble across their shop and ended up visiting three more times while I was in town.

Juana de Arco's candy-colored lingerie and clothing lines are some of the most imaginative and delightful fashion I have seen. And the atmosphere of the store itself is nothing short of a Dr. Suess wonderland. With whimsical clothes filling all corners and employees fluttering around with feathered wings, you can't help but feel you're in a different world.
